Activity Centre

The Activity Centre at the Alan Shearer Centre are available to book on-line by an hourly and by session basis.
They include:

Ball Pool

“Float” on an ocean of clear bubbles which, when lit from below, change colour with the light sequence.

The Ball Pool can used in both normal and subdued lighting and is suitable for both children and adults.

Sensory Rooms

There are three sensory rooms, The Blue Room, the White Room and the Ultra Violet Room, as well as a Sensory Cave to explore, with a mixture of light, sound and touch to stimulate your senses.

Sound and Vision


This sound, music and projection room includes colour change bubble tubes, foam ball filled seating and bean bag loungers for the ultimate in comfort reclining.

A wide variety of movies are available to projected in this sumptuous environment.

Hydrotherapy Pool


Moving light effects, music and sounds, and shimmering fibre optic curtains add to the tactile bathing experience. The overall relaxing atmosphere is soothing for all ages.

As well as normal changing rooms there is a specialised lifting hoist for the disabled.

Internet Cafe

The café has four internet linked computers with special monitors and adjustable desks for wheelchair access.

Short Breaks

The first floor of the Centre is available for short break respite for disabled children or adults 

With exclusive use of the downstairs facilities at certain times, you're sure of an enjoyable stay at the Alan Shearer Centre.

Grounds and Gardens


Our grounds are accessible by wheelchair users and include a sensory garden, woodland walk, jungle den and water feature.
