Welcome to the Alan Shearer Centre

Officially opened in May 2007 by Newcastle United and England star Alan Shearer, the Centre is a project of St Cuthberts Care, one of the region's largest social care charities, and is a unique facility in North East England.

The Alan Shearer Centre was established to enable people with both physical and learning disabilities, and their carers, to share leisure time in a setting which provides wide ranging challenges, leisure, relaxation, respite and therapeutic opportunities. 

Whether it's interaction and stimulation which is required; a place to relax and unwind; a short break or a longer stay, the Alan Shearer Centre has it all.

Short Breaks at the Alan Shearer Centre

Our Short Breaks service, based on the first floor of the Centre and accessed by lift, is registered with both OFSTED and CQC, enabling both children and adults to use the facility on a planned basis.

Twelve bedrooms are available with highly trained staff on duty at all times. Free use of the Activity Centre and grounds are included.

The Alan Shearer Activity Centre and Gardens

The Activity centre offers children and adults with sensory, physical and learning disabilities a choice of indoor and outdoor facilities. Sensory rooms, a ball pool, hydrotherapy pool, internet cafe and a woodland walk in our large landscaped garden provide stimulation and entertainment.

Our pay-as-you-go system means you choose how often to come along and with something new on offer every week you'll  be coming back to enjoy the centre again and again.
